The Gruver Cooley team is made up of only the most highly skilled and experienced craftsmen. Our staff averages more than 20 years of experience each and includes a number of families with two generations working for Gruver Cooley. Every member of our staff understands the significance of each project, regardless of size, and its importance to our clients. As a family-owned and operated business, we believe we are uniquely qualified to meet the lifestyle needs of you and your family.
Chip Gruver
President
After working summers during college in the family business, Chip joined Gruver Cooley in 1977 and became President in 1996. He provides general oversight to all Gruver Cooley operations and is in charge of sales. He has a B.S. in Business from Lehigh University and over 40 years of experience in all phases of construction.
Jill Gruver
Chief Operating Officer
Jill joined Gruver Cooley in 2006 as Chief Financial Officer and brought with her the management expertise from having run a much larger organization. Jill is now the Chief Operating Officer of the company. She has a Master's degree from Catholic University and a B.A. from Lehigh University.
Cathleen Gruver
Lead Interior Designer
Cathleen has her M.A. in Interior Design from Marymount University, where she has served as an adjunct professor. She received ASID’s “Ones to Watch” Award and NKBA's prestigious "30 Under 30 Award". Her graduate thesis received the Best in Show award for her research and evidence-based design. She received multiple Chrysalis Awards from Qualified Remodeler and Kitchen & Bath Design News. She has been featured in The Washington Post and Forbes.
Kate Sizemore
Interior Designer
Kate received her B.S. in Interior Design from the University of Cincinnati and has experience in both residential and commercial design. Her work includes residences, boutique hotels, retail and office projects throughout the world. She studied in Copenhagen, Denmark and has worked for architecture and design firms in Atlanta, Boston, San Francisco and Northern Virginia. She enjoys the challenge of creating spaces that are functional, efficient and celebrate each client’s style and unique story.
Courtney Shaloka
Interior Designer
Courtney received her B.S. in Interior Design and B.A. in History from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and has held NCIDQ certification since 2021. Having been immersed in the custom construction industry from the start, she is well-versed in every project phase and thrives on creative problem solving. She believes the most successful projects revolve around a personal, partner-oriented experience, and capture a seamless balance between beauty and function.
Tom Rasussen
Estimator
Tom is Gruver Cooley's Estimator. He has over twenty years of experience in estimating and project management in the construction industry. He attended Longwood University. Tom’s construction knowledge in both the residential and commercial construction environments is key to our accurate estimating and job set-up.
Mike Reid
Director of Construction
Mike has over 30 years of construction experience, twenty-eight as a field superintendent. Mike has a thorough understanding of all trades, strong scheduling skills, and good working relationships with clients in his projects. Mike helps assure that Gruver Cooley standards are met on all his projects.
Julia Gruver O'Donnell
Professional Organizer
Julia joined Gruver Cooley as the Purchasing Manager in 2019. She graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from Virginia Tech where she was trained in supply chain management. Julia has over six years of experience in project management, human resource management and purchasing and now focuses her attention on professional home organization with our clients when requested.
Spencer Hartman
Project Manager
Spencer joined Gruver Cooley as a project manager in 2023. He graduated with a B.S. in Financial Management and Accounting from Clemson University. Spencer has experience managing and working in the field of residential ground up builds and intricate remodels. He also possesses management and pre-construction experience within the commercial construction industry, working within both the private and government sectors.
